Wineries of Colorado Springs–Part Three

Bob Landry January 23, 2018
I recently posted the second installment of Colorado Wineries worth checking out. If you thought that was all our region has to offer for wineries, you are in for a treat. There are more wineries here than you may realize. Each one has its own unique approach, including a one-of-a-kind Meadery, incredible catering options, and even painting classes. If you are on the search for your next favorite vintage or looking for something different to do on a date night, one of the wineries nearby could be just the thing to check out. If you love fine wines, you are in great company here in Colorado Springs. Listed below are a few more wineries to check out the next time you are in search of a great bottle of wine. Blackforest MeaderyYou may wonder just what a meadery is. Mead is wine made from honey. This light, sweet and refreshing drink has an 8,000-year history and was the precursor to wine as we know it today. You can get your own taste of mead at the Blackforest Meadery; they currently have two variations to try. But there is more than just mead at this winery. They also have Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Riesling you can taste. Catriona CellarsCatriona Cellars offers a winery with tasting room and a full-service café, making this a great stop for lunch on a wine-tasting road trip. Located in Monument, Catriona Cellars is home to several award-winning wines, created by top-notch wine makers. They also have event space available if you are on the search for a great location for an upcoming special event. Sweet Elephant at Colorado Cellars: Sweet Elephant at Colorado Cellars takes a unique approach to wines. Their focus is on Colorado fruit wines and helping customers learn all about wines from across the state. This family-run winery features its own variations as well as the finest from wineries within Colorado. You can not only also get a tasty bite to eat at Sweet Elephant, they also have regular painting classes you can attend. Have a glass of wine and paint with friends–something different and fun to do in Colorado Springs. I hope you enjoyed this series on the Wineries of Colorado Springs.
